After clashing with the Prime Minister, the journalist reacts

Journalist Ambrozia Meta has reacted after clashing with Prime Minister Edi Rama during today's press conference.

The journalist provided details, indicating that the clash arose over questions about the Belinda Balluku case.

"In fact, the whole essence is that insert that we just saw in these moments, which is related to the whole narrative or the way in which Prime Minister Edi Rama has built his power and has built, so to speak, punishment against citizens. We have seen, in fact, in 2014 there were also citizens who, unable to pay the electricity bills, were put in prison and even killed themselves. Meanwhile, what we see in the case, and all the other episodes that you mentioned, has been a constant refrain of the Prime Minister, who has always tried to find the solution in prison. While in the case of Belinda Balluku, where all the standards have been violated, even perhaps those standards that were only for show, that Edi Rama had publicly set both in relation to justice, but also in relation to this issue, right now the Prime Minister is concerned about the high number of pre-trial detentions that we have and even interventions are being made in the High Court on this issue.

This was, in fact, the whole contrast and the reason why I asked the question to understand why the prime minister is sensitive when it comes to imprisoning Belinda Balluku, who is accused of violating equality in tenders in 11 episodes, because Rama is trying to present it as if there is no accusation of corruption, but the lady is being investigated.

There is a property investigation against her and as long as these violations of equality in tenders, SPAK has suspicions that businessmen have been favored, then we do not know to what extent the investigation will go and above all, a prime minister who has not read it, claims that he has not read the 16 thousand pages that SPAK has made available. On the other hand, he behaves in this way and says that we are not in the conditions where Belinda Balluku should go to prison in the role of judge and prosecutor.

"And this was the contrast that I tried to make with the question. And then, the reason why the situation actually escalated was a tendency of the prime minister, to which I actually responded or responded in all cases that he did, which is the tendency to mention the television host," the journalist stated.

Asked what communication she had with the prime minister, what was said between them, journalist Meta said that Rama attempted to shift the focus to the media, also mentioning the television director.

The journalist added that during the debate, the prime minister became irritated and interrupted the conference, and was later informed that Meta would no longer be allowed in his conferences.

This expulsion decision comes after eight years of ongoing clashes between the journalist and Rama over the handling of issues of public interest and their reporting by the media.

"Yes. In fact, the moment he mentioned Çim Peka's name ironically or as he always uses it with an offensive term, I asked him to leave the television host out and answer the question. Then he launched an attack on Syri, the television, claiming that there is a money laundering file in the prosecutor's office, other things, which I told him, that file you are talking about, you asked the former Minister of Finance Arben Ahmetaj to investigate and he found nothing from that kind of investigation.

At these moments, Rama became even more irritated, the clash continued, let's say, and he focused the entire attack on the television and referring to this very thing. At those moments when he started talking again about the investigation into the television, I told him that this is an issue that the prosecution must resolve. At the moment when he started talking about the money with which the television is maintained, I reminded him that he is the man who declared the three owners of the national media, Vizion Plus, Top Channel and TV Klan, as strategic investors, so as not to then move on to the other television businessmen who appear in the Balluku file who favored them with tenders, and at the moment when he expressed concern about the money with which the television is maintained, I reminded him of the money that citizens lost in the Llogara tunnel and I said, please, since you are concerned, tell us where the 50 million euros of the Llogara tunnel went. This has aggravated the situation a little more. At these moments, the Prime Minister, as you have seen, has interrupted the conference to take a break.

The moment he interrupted the conference, he came out and told me that you had to leave the conference. The moment I went to leave, in order not to aggravate the situation further, there was a guard who did not want to let me leave, because at that moment Rama was passing in the corridor. And I asked him to open the door because as long as he asked me to leave the conference, I wanted to leave. And at this moment we are facing each other again in the corridor, where the prime minister has told me that you are permanently excluded from conferences. So he has thrown me out. So I have received a red card from the prime minister, I cannot enter his conferences anymore. It is not the first time that the prime minister has done this….

"This has been my constant debate with Rama for eight years and Rama knows very well that I never allow him, when I ask a question on a matter of public interest, to sidestep this by trying to attack and mention television, television executives or by engaging in personal attacks. And this has been more or less the entire chronology of the quarrel and the situation that was created in the prime minister's office", said journalist Meta./ CNA
