Scary prediction/ Durrësi, Fieri, Velipoja and Shengjini will be submerged

The former Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment, Ornela Çuçi, issued a dire warning yesterday evening regarding global warming.

Çuçi said in the Blendi Fevzi show that the sea level will rise up to 60 cm worldwide.

Referring to the forecast of the World Bank, she stated that Durrës, Fieri, Velipoja and Shengjini will be covered by water until the year 2100.

According to her, Tirana will become a coastal city, along with Berat.

"The situation is quite alarming and I will only say one figure. In the year 2100, due to climate change, the World Bank predicts, the sea level will rise by 50-60 cm. This is at the world level. The forecast for Albania is scary. Durrësi, Fieri, Velipoja, Shengjini will be under water based on World Bank forecasts for the year 2100.

The projection of the World Bank shows that Berati is the most affected area. It comes to Tirana, we become a coastal city ourselves.

Albania lost 1/3 of its territory. It is the swamp that is all gone that we have worked so hard in communism to drain. They are a maritime zone if we continue with this projection that the WB shows," the former deputy minister emphasized./ CNA
