Kristel Candelario, the 32-year-old from Ohio, USA, convicted of abandoning her daughter, has admitted the crime when 10 months have passed.

She left her 16-month-old daughter home alone for ten days to go on vacation.

The event took place on June 16, 2023. Kristel traveled to Detroit and Puerto Rico for 10 days, but when she returned home to Cleveland she found her daughter unresponsive.

The examinations showed that the girl was "extremely dehydrated". She had died of starvation and dehydration.

Kristel Candelario expressed remorse for her actions before the jury.

"I'm in so much pain over the loss of my baby, Jailyn. I'm so hurt about everything that's happened. I'm not trying to justify my actions, but no one knew how much I was suffering and what I was going through.. "I hope God and my daughter have forgiven me," she declared.
