"The gates will not open"/ Balluku inspects Koman: We have free

Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, accompanied by the director of KESH, Erald Elezi, inspected the situation created as a result of intense rainfall in Koman.

Balluku said that a worsening of meteorological conditions is expected, but there will be no opening of the gates because work has been done to release volumes and there is free capacity.

"Another increase is expected on Friday, but a gate opening is not foreseen because we have the capacities and volumes. We have 4.5 m of space in Vau e Dejës and 7 m in Koman. We have been working since the beginning of November to open the spaces. For energy, these are welcome flows, 167m above sea level, 7 meters close to the maximum quota.

"Even in Dibër there is an unusual intensity of rainfall. In the north and northeast the situation is more problematic," said Balluku.

The head of KESH said that measures will be taken to prevent discharges without production. Erald Elezi said that the rainfall will help improve the electricity situation after a dry year.

Elezi stated that Lake Fierza has been closed to avoid creating problems in Koman and in order to accumulate as much water as possible.

In Vau e Dejës, the flow is 200 m3/s, Fierza continues to remain closed to avoid creating problems in Koman and to accumulate as much water as possible. We are in coordination with other structures.

There is a front passing through the Fierza basin, with some precipitation in Theth, but it could accumulate there.

All four generators are working and there are no problems, these rainfall events are helping us with the situation.

In Vau i Dejës, all five generators are in operation, the gates are all certified to receive emergency cases.
