Falling water level/ How the flood situation looks in the Shkodra region

The Shkodra Prefecture has provided information regarding the flood situation in this region. In the Dajç area in the Shkodra municipality, there is a decrease in the water level. There is also a decrease in the water level on the Oboti road axis, although there is still about 20–30 cm of water.

The transportation of residents to the affected areas continues to be carried out with a high-passenger vehicle and 5 Armed Forces personnel.

In the territory of the municipality of Vau Dejës, Malësi e Madhe, Pukë and Fushë Arrëz, the situation appears stable and under control. It is also reported that traffic on the Qafë Mali-Fierzë and K/Hadroj- Q/Bënë axes is carried out with winter tires/chains due to snow.

The situation in the territory of Shkodra District, today, 16.01.2026, appears stable and gradually improving.

In the territory of the Municipality of Shkodra, in the Dajçi area, a decrease in the water level is observed, while in the “Urrelat e Shirqit” there is no longer any water presence. The Oboti road axis continues to have water presence of about 20–30 cm, but with a tendency of continuous decrease. The transportation of residents in the affected areas continues to be carried out by the Northern Infantry Regiment, with a high-passenger vehicle and 5 members of the Armed Forces.

In the territory of the municipalities of Vau Dejës, Malësi e Madhe, Pukë and Fushë Arrëz, the situation appears stable and under control. No problems or emergency situations have been reported.

According to data from the Lezha Irrigation and Drainage Directorate, water levels at monitoring points continue to be below critical levels. The Drin River level in Bahçalëk is at 7.2 m, while the Buna River is recorded at 8.30 m in Pazar and 6.40 m in Dajç. The Velipoja dams continue to function normally at -1.90 m and are working at full capacity, guaranteeing flow management.

The Shkodra DRV reports that there are no problems with road traffic. On mountain roads, winter tires and/or chains are recommended.

Road Maintenance Contractors

• Traffic on the Qafë Mali – Fierzë and K/Hadroj – Q/Bënë axes is carried out with winter tires/chains.

• The Dedaj–Razëm, Bogë–Qafë Thore-Theth and Hani Hotit-Vermosh road axes are passable, but strict compliance with traffic rules, signage and the use of winter tires or chains is required.
