The former member of the Supreme Court, Darjel Sina, passed away this Sunday, at the age of 45.

Sina had been suffering from a serious illness for a long time, and was intubated for three days.

The news has been confirmed by the Supreme Court, which declares that Sina has made an important contribution in the field of law.

"With deep sadness, we announce the death of the member of the Supreme Court, Mr. Darjel Sina.

Mr. Sina joined the bench of judges of the Supreme Court in April 2022, and comes to this position after a long experience and significant contribution in the field of law. 

His passing leaves a great void for all who knew and worked with him.

In these difficult times, we express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. We are with you in heart and mind.

May he rest in peace!", says the announcement of the Supreme Court.

Darjel Sina completed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Zurich in Switzerland.

Sina completed his doctorate, master of arts and bachelor studies at the National University of Athens/Faculty of Law. He holds the academic title of Associate Professor since May 2014. Judge Sina's last work experience was Public Commissioner at the Public Commissioner Institution and before that Head of the Department of Law at New York University, in Tirana.

In November 2021, Sina has been selected by the US Department of State to represent the Albanian state in the International Visitor Leadership Program with the theme Rule of Law and the US Judicial System, organized by the Graduate School USA.

Sina worked as a researcher at the University of Zurich and before this experience he worked as a Dean at the Faculty of Law, at Luarasi University, at the European University of Tirana as a Professor and before this experience he was employed as an assistant professor at the National University of Athens, under the direction of Professor Andreas Dimitropoulos. After graduation, he worked for many years as an assistant lawyer in Athens, Greece./ CNA
