The visual arts teacher in Korçë, Bledar Duro, has been remanded in custody. Duro was arrested a few days ago after harassing two schoolgirls on Whatsapp.

Kristi Koçibelli, the lawyer of Bledar Duros, in a statement to the media after issuing the arrest warrant, said that his client admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol when he wrote to the students, while he described the teacher as an honorable person.

For this fact, he requested a milder security measure, which was not accepted by the court.

"We presented more than 6 pieces of evidence, confirmation from the Trauma Hospital in Tirana and the Korçë Hospital for his hospitalizations and the doctor's program here in Korçë, while his wife has a nurse and helps her heal. I think that the only offense this citizen has committed is an administrative misdemeanor due to communication with students.

Under these conditions, I think that, being an administrative offense, a measure could be taken by the school directorate or the educational directorate, but in any case, the communication that any person can have on social networks does not constitute a criminal offense.

The first laying was in 2014 and the last in May of this year. A few days before he was arrested, he was in communication with his doctor and continued his treatment.

He explained that during his stay at school he did not consume alcohol, but after school he consumed alcohol excessively. The evidence that I have presented to the court is sufficient for a more lenient measure against this citizen.

Bledar Duro has been a professor for 25 years, he has been in several schools and in all these years he has had tremendous respect among his students. He published hundreds and thousands of his works in Korça. The communication between him and the students was respectful", said the lawyer./ CNA
