Meta claims unconstitutionality from 3 levels of the judiciary/ The

The Constitutional Court has convened to review the request of Freedom Party leader Ilir Meta, who claims that the decisions of three levels of the judiciary that have left him in prison violate the Constitution.

Meta's defense states that the measure of imprisonment for a public figure such as the former President and leader of an opposition party is considered disproportionate and unjustified, violating fundamental human freedoms.

"The request is based on the fact that the Court has left in force an arrest measure based only on suspicions, without a communicable charge against the defendant, in violation of the Constitution of Albania, which stipulates that "any doubt about the charge is considered in favor of the defendant," the request states.

The Constitutional Court will issue a decision, determining whether to pass it on for further review./ CNA
