Tourist operators in Pogradec have closed a very successful summer season, while autumn and winter continue to show high demand, not only for this city, but for all tourist destinations in Korça County.

In this period when the demands and the number of foreign visitors are increasing day by day, there is a need for the central government, the local government and businesses to create concrete packages to extend the day stays in the southeast of the country.

For this reason, Niko Peleshi and Olta Xhaçka have started meetings with tourist operators, not only to discuss these developments, but also to listen to the problems that require quick or long-term solutions.

In his speech, Peleshi emphasized that the southeast is a special example, as it has shown that even in difficult times it has been able to develop tourism, thanks to the investments made, but above all, thanks to the talent of the tourist operators to adapt .

On the other hand, the mayor Ilir Xhakolli underlined that the high demand to rest in Pogradec has influenced the increase in the value of properties in the lake city.

"The purpose of this meeting is to identify those jobs, those needs that Pogradec has to take on as homework that can be done without large budgets. And those works that need budgets next year may come with good news such as the completion of the road that has been extended Qukës-Qafë Plloçë or other works such as the investment in Tushemisht. We have big investments. We are here to listen and take notes", said Niko Peleshi.

"In these 3-4 years, the municipality has made a significant contribution to the growth of tourism in the city of Pogradec, and this can be seen in several directions, the first being that the value of properties in Pogradec has increased. Our objective is to make an elite tourism and this is our focus. Let's not stay with that traditional tourism, let's not only come the elderly or mothers with small children, but with our work and yours, we should bring the youth and the elite tourism that we all want, Xhakolli says.

The season that we left behind, as well as the autumn season where we are currently, has been extremely successful and with continuous growth for tourist operators, so much so that bookings for 2025 are already even higher.

Olta Xhaçka added that if 10 years ago agrotourism was just a project or a dream, today the southeast and every region of Albania has experienced this tourism sector as a tangible reality./ CNA
