The President of the Constitutional Court, Holta Zaçkaj, today made public the decision regarding the mandate of the Socialist MP, Olta Xhaçka.

The Constitutional Court rejected the request of the Assembly to send Xhaçka's mandate to the Venice commission.

Today, the court ordered the Assembly to immediately send to the Constitutional Court the motion of the deputies for Xhaçka's mandate.

"The Constitutional Court established that the decision was not executed by the Assembly. The decisions of the Constitutional Court must be implemented by all institutions. The deputies must vote, respecting the court's decision, to execute the court's decision. The Assembly should bring the motion for Xha?ka to the Constitutional Court" , she expressed.

On July 8, the Assembly sent a letter to the Constitutional Court, where it requested the re-opening of the case of the mandate of Olta Xhaçka, former Foreign Minister and MP of the SP.

The Assembly asked to receive the opinion of the Venice Commission regarding the removal or not of Xha?ka's mandate.

On April 11, the majority voted in the Assembly against sending this case for review to the Constitutional Court.

Xhaçka held the position of Foreign Minister at the time when the Committee of Strategic Decisions headed by Prime Minister Edi Rama approved the status of "strategic investor" for her husband, Artan Gaçi, who is building a hotel in Dhërmi.

In her statements, the former minister insists that she is not in a conflict of interest and that she has not benefited from a centimeter of state land or any other type of public benefit. According to her, the only benefit from this status was related to the company that in the future will manage the activity for the beach area in front of the hotel./ CNA
