The Czech Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavsky, at the press conference, later expressed that he welcomes the full harmonization of Albania with EU policies.

He said that they are waiting for commitments to fulfill the necessary reforms to complete this process and that the EU will support Albania until full membership.

"I am satisfied that Albania and RMV managed to officially start the negotiations. We have reached a milestone in the evolution of our relationship. The future of BP is in the EU, Albania has stood by its neighbors in difficult times and I am happy that this waiting is over for both countries. I am happy that this historic moment is taking place during the Czech presidency. Western Balkan countries are expected to be sworn in as future members of the EU. We encourage Albania to harmonize with the EU's foreign policy. We await commitments to fulfill the necessary reforms to complete this process. The EU will support Albania until full membership. Albania must first implement reforms in the areas of the rule of law, the judiciary and the fight against organized crime and corruption. I am happy that this is happening', he said./CNA.al
