The Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all of Albania led the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. During his sermon, His Beatitude emphasized the importance of the Gospel messages in our lives.

Archbishop Joan said that going to church makes you feel God's presence more, giving peace and enlightenment to the heart and mind.

His Beatitude further said during his sermon that envy and jealousy destroy the soul, heart, and mind of man, while emphasizing that prayer in church helps in combating them.

"In today's Gospel we can see many things that could be in us. Because the Gospel is a true mirror. All people create false mirrors, what they want to be. But if we see ourselves in the mirror of the Gospel we will not come out so beautiful, we will see that we have shortcomings. We can have envy, anger, resentment, ambition, empty pride and everything else. By focusing on the Gospel we begin to know ourselves really.

If we go to Church on Sunday we have many chances to meet God. Meeting God always brings your transformation. If we are going to church, it is a chance for God to correct any physical or spiritual distortion. The presence of God gives peace to the heart of man, gives enlightenment to his mind.

God wants us to come to church on Sunday for our own good. Envy is a terrible thing, we all have it in different forms, so we must fight it. Envy and jealousy destroy the soul, heart and mind of man. By coming to Church we can find the strength to fight it. If we fail to recognize the fault in ourselves, this is the greatest disease. The greatest sinner is a person who does not recognize his sin and elevates it to the rank of virtue. This is hypocrisy in faith. Today's Gospel invites us to turn away from hypocrisy. A humble person can recognize evil in himself. The proud mind does not accept it. Therefore, God is against the proud. These teachings that come from Holy Scripture are the basis for everyday life", His Beatitude expressed, among other things, during the sermon. /CNA
