Unacceptable working conditions/ Waterworks employees rise in protest

A large group of Waterworks employees held a protest today at the directorate of this institution, presenting their demands for better working conditions and fair treatment.

The protest was attended by 27 billers, 21 inspectors, and 12 plumbers, who expressed their concern about the abuses and difficulties they face every day in the workplace.

Employees are being forced to work even on weekends, violating vacation and working hour rules. This is an additional burden for them.

Another major concern is the low salary. According to them, the monthly salary is only 35 thousand lekë, an amount that is much less than what is required to cover living expenses.

Employees have also expressed concern about threats of dismissal if they demand their rights.

According to the employees, the new director has set billing targets that are beyond their physical ability to achieve, causing an unbearable burden on them. They express dissatisfaction with the way these targets were set and are demanding a review of them. /CNA
