The Prime Minister, Edi Rama, talks about the agreement with Italy
Prime Minister, Edi Rama

The Prime Minister, Edi Rama gave an interview to the journalist Bruno Vespa in the show "Cinque Minuti".

During the interview, Rama spoke about the agreement signed this Monday with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on immigration.

Rama has given details about the agreement.

Below is an excerpt from the interview:

Journalist: Then, the management of the camps will be Italian.

"It is about a reception center and a post where all verifications and registrations will be processed. Everything is done according to the well-defined criteria of the European Union," said Rama.

Journalist: During these days, even survivors of the Nazi extermination camps like Edith Bruck, even in Albania, there was persecution against the Jews who were always inclined to welcome these people, as if they were hardened because they say that there are opportunities from Muslim countries terrorists or people who are against the Jews arrive. What do you think about this?

"You are asking me a question of extraordinary weight on an issue which is unfortunately becoming more and more complicated and which is precisely the issue of how to be the Europe of values ??and rights that are very dear to we and at the same time manage to stand out between those who really avoid the risk of death and those who benefit or fall prey to the traffickers and even the networks that supply this type of traffic.

There are European countries, which are expressly closed to the idea of ??receiving people of other religious beliefs, of other colors, but we have seen that when it came to the Ukrainian refugees, they were very open to receive them, because after all, they were white and they were Christians. Meanwhile, there are other realities in European countries like Switzerland, and not only have they always been open arms to welcome everyone without any distinction, but they are going through a very difficult moment," said Rama .

Journalist: 30 years ago, it was the Albanians who came to Italy en masse as immigrants, while now it is the other way around. Many Italians come to Albania to invest in Albania and to work in Albania.

"If today, Albania is a destination for Italy and if today Albanians in Italy, but also in Albania, have a future, this comes in large part from the fact that when we were refugees, when we were leaving hell, Italy welcomed us with open arms and gave us what is the most precious thing for a human being, the future. And in search of the future, people are all human beings, regardless of whether they are Muslim or Christian, but finding a balance here is a very complicated issue," said the Prime Minister./ CNA
