Plarent Ndreca, the legal defender of the mayor, Erion Veliaj, is facing a public contradiction.

In April, Ndreca stated during an interview with "Top Channel" that his client was in perfect health and had no physical discomfort within the isolation facilities.

This statement came after Veliaj underwent cosmetic surgery to remove warts.

"Erion Veliaj is in very good health and psychological condition. From this point of view and from the time that the situation in which he is located creates, he has more possibilities, more space to do physical activity. The intervention was about some malignant moles which have been removed and analyses are being carried out. There is no concern in this regard. His condition is very good ," said Plarent Ndreca on April 29.

However, this statement contradicts recent developments. The media reported that on Wednesday, May 6, the Durrës prisoner, who is facing 13 serious criminal charges, will be transported to the private "Salus" hospital for a health check.

The question that arises is why this checkup in a private hospital is needed when Ndreca described his condition as excellent?!

The suspicions are strengthened when we look at the case of Redi Molla, the former director of the "5D" file. Molla also managed to leave his cell for a lighter security measure, precisely after he was found to have heart problems after medical checks.

It remains to be seen whether the same scheme will be used for Veliaj, an "unexpected" hospital diagnosis that would serve as a basis for lawyers to seek freedom in the GJKKO./CNA
