The Appeals Commission mitigates disciplinary measures for former Lezha police

The State Police Complaints Commission has reviewed today around 25 complaints filed by police officers against whom various disciplinary measures have previously been imposed.

It is reported that at this meeting, the measures for the former heads of the Lezha police were also relaxed. Specifically, for the former director of the Lezha Police, Altin Mena, the promotion deadline was postponed for three months, overturning the initial measure of "demotion" for a period of 5 years.

For the deputy director for order in Lezha, Taulant Gjoka, who had been dismissed a few weeks ago, a six-month promotion postponement was decided.

The Appeals Commission also decided to postpone the promotion of the head of the Lezha Police Station, Oltion Gjoni, who was also dismissed. The Commission only decided to postpone the promotion of the deputy director for crimes, Kujtim Gjoka, who had been suspended, as a measure.

The Directorate of Professional Standards, while justifying the decision it issued a few weeks ago, stated that during the period when these leaders were in charge of the Lezha Police, a three-story casino with over 20 slot machines and a poker room had been operating in the city center for a long time. During the police intervention, narcotics suspected of being cocaine were also seized. /CNA
