SASPAC Investigations/Here are the assets that were seized from former Minister

This Wednesday, the Special Prosecution Office announced that it has closed the investigations into the "SASPAC" file, which involves former minister Ilir Beqaj and 10 other people, and requested the trial of the 11 defendants by the Criminal Court for SASPAC funds.

As some of the details of this case have emerged, it is learned that numerous assets have been seized from Beqaj and his associates. These assets include an apartment, bank accounts, and shares.

More specifically, Beqaj and 10 other defendants had an apartment in Lungomare, Vlora, 3 bank accounts worth over 20 million lekë and 19.4% of shares in commercial companies seized. 3 vehicles were also seized.

According to the SPAK announcement, within the framework of the investigations, a preventive seizure has been imposed on the real estate, an apartment, located in Lungomare, Vlora, and several bank accounts, and others have been seized by the defendants, as follows:

List of seized assets:

-14 323 125 (fourteen million three hundred twenty-three thousand one hundred twenty-five) lekë;

-15,542 (fifteen thousand five hundred and forty-two) euros;

-42 318 (forty-two thousand three hundred and eighteen) USD;

-19.4% of shares in a commercial company 

-Three vehicles registered to the defendants

Former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, was arrested on July 4, 2024, accused of abusing funds while he was the director of the State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination (SASPAC). /CNA
