Administrative investigation at the Oncologist/ Koçiu: We will change the

The Minister of Health, Albana Koçiu reacted again to the scandal that was discovered in the Oncology hospital, where doctors and employees sold chemotherapy drugs to the private and then sent the patients to the private to receive the service.

She announced that she has launched an administrative investigation at the Oncology hospital, which aims to resize the hospital.

Koçiu added that they will initiate changes in the law on the Doctor's Order in order to sanction anyone who, according to her, treats human life as a commodity.

"I want to make it clear once again to the public that corruption is the red dividing line between the public interest, the interest of every citizen and anyone who thinks to carry out such shameful actions that do not belong to the figure of a doctor and the nurses. We have started an administrative investigation in addition to the investigation started by the prosecutor's office, which I will have to encourage, to go to the end of the entire investigation process and to punish in an exemplary manner all those who have carried out procedures that violate the image of the doctor and the nurse and procedures which punish them criminally. Meanwhile, on the other hand, I want to emphasize that the proceeding and the administrative investigation that we have started together with the internal audit and anti-corruption structures, will be an investigation which will undoubtedly deal with many aspects of the organization and work issues in this service.

It is certainly unacceptable, intolerable that the doctor, the highest figure who should serve people with devotion every day, can treat human life as a commodity in the mass market, and precisely for this fact we would like to bring to another dimension, the exercise of the image of the doctor and the nurse and their profession, and this is precisely why we are working and will very soon initiate the necessary legal changes which we will present to the Assembly of Albania. It is precisely about making opinions in the law on the Doctor's Order in the Republic of Albania to impose strong sanctions there as well, which punish every angle that treats human life as a wholesale commodity in the free market. Punish anyone who, in addition to other moral actions, does not perform his duties professionally with integrity and morals, which should be the essence of the work of every professional, especially in the health sector.

Also, on the other hand, I will have to say that the administrative investigation that we have started will also make possible a resizing of our entire Oncology service", emphasized the minister./ CNA
