After the outbreak of the Oncology doctors' scandal, journalist Muharrem Meko shared his two bitter experiences at this hospital.

The journalist tells the case of his wife's surgery where he had to buy the medicines at the pharmacies next to the hospital because the director used the money for the medicines as grapes and plums.

The second case was the journalist himself, who, although the results of the tests had come out OK, for "safety" one of the doctors advised him to go to Turkey to have a scan.

The first, 2014...

After the operation under the care of doctor Agim Karaj, my wife was recommended 4 chemotherapy sessions. Ok ...we would without a doubt!

In the head of the Pavilion, Dr. Dhurata Koroveshi, and the head of the Chemistry department, Dr. Flutura, we really found two real angels, but "...they lacked the right chemicals...", which forced us to look for them in pharmacies next to the wall of the hospital!

One fine day, Dr. Agimi says to me: - Oh my friend...you go and buy the medicines that the state should provide you, because the lady director, the money intended for this work, is using grapes and plums.

And then he articulated the figure of about 500 million that had "changed destination", from medicines for the sick, to luxurious offices for the administration, medemek!

And he added further, when the offices of QSUT were probably the best of any institution in Tirana!

After a few months, the director was promoted higher, higher, in fact, on the day of her "promotion" I called the doctor to congratulate her, but Dr. Gimi immediately understood the real reason and answered me:

- Dear Muharram, I'm going to Canada...!

Second experience, year 2022!

After the operation and my stay of about a month in the hospital, I left to be followed up under the control of the doctors in Korça, while the connections with Dr. Aurel Janko were permanent!

After 3 months I went to Tirana, where Dr. Reli, in a consultation with his colleagues and a fine control with 4HD equipment, would direct me to the Oncologist!

- A colleague of mine is waiting for you there - he told me ... he was educated at one of the best universities in New York, even the authorities there wanted to keep him as a doctor at the Oncology Hospital of New York, one of the best of the world but that the girl had rejected because she dreamed of serving her homeland, Albania!

- The analyzes have turned out very well, - the young doctor tells me, but anyway you will go and undergo specialized consultations, here at "Oncology" and then you will bring me here!

So I did. The first commission, a doctor named Blendi Kreka, the son of a teacher from Korça, whom I knew well, like father and son, very, very humane!

After checking all the recommendations and carefully reading the relevant analyses, he addresses the other members of the commission: -After everything... it was just a small thing, but anyway, I think you should do a cure with four needles ( each of them replaced a chemotherapy session).

The second commission.

At the head of the table, an acquaintance of mine, even from my childhood, but who was pretending not to know me!

- In order to be completely, completely sure, he addresses me seriously, it is good to go to Turkey, to do a Pet Scaner there!

- What if there is also a Pet Scanner here, doctor, I'll give it back.

He was silent for a moment and did not raise his eyes, but focused on the speech-recommendation he said: - For your own good, I am telling you and continued, - the ticket costs 900 EURO, sleeping, you have to pay for the food, etc., etc.!

We went back to the doctor and I told her everything. She looked me straight in the face and turned to me: - Muharrem, the Oncologist has turned into an inn without gates, where you don't know the first one from the second, especially these two doctors that you are telling me about, but who are not only doctors , they have become the butchers of the Hospital!

So revolted to the extreme, she got up from her chair and addressed me: - That swindler of Turkey is connected with the air transport companies and this other scumbag, with private hospitals!

- You won't do anything other than those four needles that doctor Bledi recommended, he cut me short.

After a few months, I found out that the girl who seemed like a meteor in the sky of Albanian medicine at that meeting, had left for Italy. I found his phone number, I took it to thank him!

She almost, almost sadly, repeated to me.

- I left Muharrem... I left, because I could not cope with the catastrophic situation in which the irresponsible have plunged the Albanian Medicine!/ CNA
