Photovoltaics, licenses granted in production reach about 470 MW

Solar energy seems to be significantly increasing its weight in the total production capacity in the country.

Official data show that currently the Energy Regulatory Authority has granted licenses for production with a capacity of about 470 MW.

It is about projects that are being implemented and that in the coming years are expected to enter production, thus reducing the country's dependence on "hydro", which continues to remain dominant.

The most recent projects for which the Entity granted the license were the last few days for a 100MW plant in the Ballshi area and another 10MW in the village of Allprenaj, Golem administrative unit.

In the country, the largest photovoltaic plant, that of Karavasta given by the government through the auction, has started production, while for Spitalla, which was also acquired by the same company, Voltalia, the ministry announced a few days ago that the works are continuing.

Energy production from photovoltaic plants has a modest weight in relation to the total. In the first 4 months, photovoltaics in the free market produced over 12.8 thousand MW, while those who have an agreement with the Free Market Supplier 19.5 thousand, while the domestic net production was 3.1 million MW.

The weight of photovoltaics is calculated at only 1 percent of the total from January to April 2024. However, this ratio is expected to change this year when a number of projects are entering production.

Just a few days ago, the government announced 8 winners for the hybrid photovoltaic auction while one bid was left in reserve.

The offer with the lowest price was 39.7 euros MWh, while the average for all offers was 51.3 euros and a capacity of 283.93 MWH.

During the hybrid auction, the government only guaranteed the purchase of energy for 15 years, while securing the land was the responsibility of the companies themselves.

The condition for participation in the auction was for a capacity not less than 10 MW and not greater than 100 MW and with a ceiling price of 59.97 euros/MW. /Monitor
