The President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj, today on the third day of his visit to Calabria, met with the Arber community and the local authorities in Macchia Albanese, San Cosmo Albanese, Vaccarizzo Albanese and San Giorgio Albanese.

President Begaj visited Jeronim De Rada's house in Macchia Albanese, placed a wreath of flowers on his bust and visited the grave where the renaissance man rests, in the Church of Saint Mary of Constantinople.

"Arbëresh people of Italy have a lot to be proud of. But you of Macchia Albanese have much more reason, as you hold in your bosom the renaissance Jeronim De Rada, the great poet who sang and contributed to Albania. I grew up with De I'm so sorry that I came to meet him after so many years. Thank you all for all your immense patriotism!", said Begaj.

President Begaj honored another poet from Arbër, Zef Serembe, with the decoration "Gjergj Kastrioti Skënderbeu" and placed a wreath of flowers next to the statue in San Cosmo Albanese.

Together with the Mayor, President Begaj distributed awards to six Arbëre personalities of the municipality for their patriotic contribution. President Begaj also placed a wreath on the bust of Skenderbeu.

President Begaj stated that during all the meetings he found support for new Albania-Calabri projects, including the field of tourism.

"I am convinced that through the promotion and support of cooperation between the Region of Calabria and Albania, numerous exchange opportunities will be created in various fields of mutual interest, with a direct impact on the tourism and cultural industry," - said the President further.

While evaluating the growth of tourism this year in Albania, President Begaj appealed for the drafting of a joint strategic program.

In the meeting he held with entrepreneurs of the "Lions Club Arbëri" association in San Demetrio Corone, the Head of State proposed the opening of operational offices capable of benefiting from important advantages in terms of investments. / CNA
