Interior Minister Ervin Hoxha stopped today at the Kakavija Border Point, where he held a bilateral meeting with Albanian and Greek customs officials.

The purpose of the visit was to facilitate the flow of travelers throughout this end of the year.

In his speech, Minister Hoxha, in the announcement for the media, revealed the details of this meeting, which was without the presence of cameras.

Hoxha said that they have had a good bilateral cooperation to avoid the kilometer queues that have been present almost every year at this border point.

Unlike the previous years, the situation is more calm regarding this and the statistics provided by this customs.

Meanwhile, Hoxha was asked by journalists about the salaries of police officers, their delay and remuneration, which he said he is aware of.

In this meeting, Minister Hoxha was also accompanied by the head of the State Police, Ilir Proda.

"Today, together with the Director of the State Police and the Director of the Border Police Department, we visited the Kakavije Border Crossing Point.

I also had the opportunity to meet the leaders of the Greek Police, with whom I shared some concerns. Last week I had a conversation with the Greek Ambassador on the plan of measures to cope with the influx of Albanian citizens during the crossing at Kakavija and other border crossing points. I note that measures have been taken to cope with this influx.

Together with the head of the Greek police, we also visited the Coordination Center, which was set up in implementation of the intergovernmental agreement, it functions as such, with joint forces between the Albanian police and the Greek police.

I take the opportunity to thank the representatives of FRONTEX. Currently, based on the agreement we signed between FRONTEX and the Albanian government on illegal migration, we have had very good levels of success. Illegal migration is down to 60% and services continue.
