INSTAT publishes the figures: Fewer accidents in November, but increase by 34%

The roads of the country have been quieter this end of the year. During the month of November, there were fewer road accidents in the country, as well as fewer accidents, unlike the previous months, when the trend was strongly increasing. INSTAT announced that in November 2024 there were 147 road accidents, from 167 accidents recorded in the same month of the previous year.

In these accidents, there were 188 accident victims (killed and injured) from 212 in November of the previous year. INSTAT reports that the published data are preliminary and subject to updating. However, for the 11th month, both accidents and accidents have been increasing. For January-November, a total of 1517 accidents are counted, with an increase of 34% compared to the 11th month of the previous year, when a total of 1128 accidents occurred.

Accident victims also increased by 36%, exceeding 2 thousand people. According to INSTAT, during the period January-November 2024, the mortality rate in road accidents is 9.8 per 100 accidents, from 15.7 in the same period a year ago.

Road accidents, in 90.5% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 26.5% of the total number of accidents.

In November 2024, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Wednesday with 18.4%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Monday, with 10.2%. The highest number of road accidents occurred during the time frame 17:00-19:00, accounting for 25.2% of the total number of road accidents./Monitor
