The Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Albana Koçiu, today held a conversation with students of Medicine and Nursing, who do their practice at the Fier Memorial Regional Hospital.

In her speech, Minister Koçiu said that there are now more options and opportunities, where they can choose not only the hospital where they want to work, but also a series of incentives to contribute to the public health sector.

"Salaries, one of the main incentives to choose a profession, have doubled starting from 2013. And today we have a doctor's salary at 1600 euros, a nurse's salary at 1200 euros, a good financial incentive to choose the public health sector. Meanwhile, on the other hand, there are the conditions, the hospital infrastructure and not only that, also of the health centers. We have invested in 450 health centers to improve the health infrastructure", said Koçiu.

"One of the most recent programs is the zero interest loan which gave us the opportunity to have 85 doctors to get their first apartment. Meanwhile, we gave another 45 quotas for doctors, including nurses. The other good news is that we are preparing the next decision to again have quotas dedicated to doctors, nurses and health professionals to get loans with zero interest. We have doubled the bonus for those young doctors, professionals who choose to serve in rural areas to give their contribution and serve the community", she underlined.

Addressing the trainee students, the Minister also spoke about their specializations in medicine.

"If you choose to have a contract with MSHMS, then you will have the opportunity to be paid 80% of the salary of a general practitioner throughout the years of specialization. And for those young men and women who choose the specialty of emergency medicine or family medicine, which for us are priority branches, we have given the opportunity to enter without formalized testing and while completing the specialization, to be paid with 100% of the salary the general practitioner", she said.
