"Gërdeci" case/ Mediu: The prosecution is turning this process

The next hearing in the court process for the "Gërdeci" case was accompanied by objections from former Minister of Defense, Fatmir Mediu, to the evidence presented by the Special Prosecution Office.

The focus of the debate was the prosecution's claims that the location of the ammunition dismantling and the types of calibers were predetermined. Medi's defense rejected these claims, arguing that the relevant decisions were not made with his knowledge or involvement.

Medi's lawyer emphasized that there is no clear legal basis for the division of calibers.

"The predetermination was made without the minister's knowledge of the fact and without any of his involvement at this moment, and the second is about calibers, since firstly there is no legal definition that divides calibers into large and small ones," said lawyer Ardian Visha.

On the other hand, Mediu considered it unfair to try to assign him responsibilities that, according to him, do not belong to the function of minister.

"What is happening in this process is that the Prosecution is charging the minister with responsibility for tasks that were not his and there is no basis for it. Turning this into an absurdity," said former minister Mediu.

On the other hand, SPAK says that Mediu, in collaboration with other people, has favored companies involved in the process of dismantling ammunition in Gërdec. The former minister continues to deny the accusations./ CNA
