At the construction site for the Tirana - Rinas - Durrës railway, the infrastructural works are nearing completion. The modern machinery, Tamping, has already arrived, through which it becomes possible to pack, press the ballast through which the stability of the rails is increased. Through this machine, it becomes possible to correct the alignment of the rails, to make them parallel and level, for a more comfortable journey.

The Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku was in the area of ??Shkozeti, where this project takes place, where she was closely acquainted with the works and their progress. The Director of the Railway, Ergys Verdho clarified that until now, nearly 80% of the civil construction works have been completed, while the work is ongoing.

"It is important that in November the work on the construction of the stations starts. And there the forces will be concentrated in the part of the signaling and telecommunication cabins because this component is combined with the track and the first component of the construction of the line with the introduction of all the signaling and telecommunications in these buildings. The next stage is electrification", said Verdho.

Evaluating the project, Balluku said that it has been advanced with other details that complete this work, such as the construction of stations, where there will be 10 of them on this line. "We have advanced with a number of components of the project, because the Tirana-Rina-Durra project has several components. It's not just the track we're driving at a good, steady, substantial speed. About 80% of the processes are done. On the other hand, we are also advancing with other components such as the part of the stations. The international competition for the stations is closed, we already have a winner. The Albanian Railway is at the moment when the contract is being concluded, the conclusion of the contract is being negotiated, and then it will immediately start work on the construction of these 10 stations, which are foreseen in the original project of the entire railway", said Balluku.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy also focused on other railway projects for which work will begin, thus reviving one of the important transport sectors.

"In December we have the international competition for the electrification of the railway and in the meantime we also have the last component which has to do with the operation of the railways which is a very important component, a component which is going with a detailed international study with the support of our partners and on the other hand by designing this component then we will have a clear operating manual for all other railways for which we have applied or won, such as the case of Vorë-Hani i Hoti which is the project that will to start immediately, that is, now considering that we have closed all the processes for that railway and meanwhile we are waiting for the approval for all the other parts that we have applied to ÚBIF, such as Durrës-Rrogozhina or then Rrogozhinë-Pogradeci, so Corridor VIII, which for us is one of the most important segments as it is connected to the new port of Durrës", underlined Balluku.
