The People's Advocate, Erinda Ballanca, has spoken with superlatives about SPAK, as she said that it has broken the myth of impunity in our country.

Ballanca said in an interview with Nisida Tufa that SPAK has needed a long time to reach the expectations of the citizens and to reach the main goal.

"One of the real results of the reform is precisely the fact that no one thinks today that they are unpunished. And this is the merit of the Special Structure.

First of all, I want to say that SPAK has managed to achieve what was one of the goals of the Justice Reform, to affect impunity, and this is a very good achievement. Of course, it takes a certain amount of time to do complete, true investigations, investigations that produce inherent results and produce evidence that can stand before the court.

SPAK certainly took some time to do that work. There were very small numbers, there were not the right staffs, there were a number of elements, which in the first moments was a necessary time to set up and create the structure, but of course also to create the real meaning of the position , the expectations of the citizens and to realize what was their goal and will.

On the other hand, what I have noticed, and not without purpose, is that because of this success, sometimes there are also moments that, for the sake of the goal, it is sometimes overlooked or a result-oriented interpretation is made even for some rights, which are important from the point of view of the Ombudsman", emphasized Ballanca.

She stated that SPAK prosecutors should be encouraged in their work, as they face personal costs.

"They are doing a job that is not simple, they are doing a job that has not small personal and individual risks, but they are advancing a reform, which will have exactly this aspect of it as the most beautiful, better and more accomplished. There are many aspects of the reform, which are not so positive, but on the other hand it is important to understand that no one should break the law because anyone can be punished. The myth of impunity has been overthrown, but we must have concrete results so that it does not happen again", underlined the People's Advocate./ CNA
