The arrest of Vangjush Dako/ The lawyer talks about the two cases that accuse

After the imprisonment of the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, his lawyer, Petrit Ismaili, spoke to the media.

In a statement to the media from the Police Directorate of Tirana, the lawyer said that Dako has been accused of abuse of office on two occasions.

As CNA reported before, Ismaili stated that one case is related to the report of the residents of a building, which was declared uninhabitable by the Construction Institute.

While the second case, according to the lawyer, is related to a report made by the former head of the Durres DP branch, Ferdinand Xhaferri, on the eve of the 2021 elections.

"The decision of the first-instance court was just executed that sentenced Dako to prison. The charges are one, for abuse of office in two cases, a report by some residents of a building who claim that there was a violation, and a report on the eve of the 2021 elections, by Ferdinand Xhaferri.

I was inside the case for the first charge. I declare in advance that the Special Prosecutor's Office is unable to maintain balance under media, political or international pressure and is taking hasty measures in my opinion" , he said./ CNA.al
