The US imposes new sanctions on Iran

The United States imposed sanctions on dozens of people and entities in Iran, China and Hong Kong, accusing them of a network that supports Iran's military and missile programs, as Washington has stepped up pressure on Tehran.

The U.S. Treasury Department said the network conducted transactions and brokered the purchase of sensitive, critical parts and technology for Iran's ballistic missile development, including for the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, which are under U.S. sanctions. .

Among those sanctioned is Iran's defense attache in Beijing, Davoud Damghani, whom the Treasury has accused of coordinating purchases of military-related equipment. These purchases are said to have been made from China for Iranian users.

"The United States will continue to target transnational malicious networks that covertly support Iran's ballistic missile production and other military programs," the US Treasury Department said.
