The US Embassy in Tirana has condemned the attacks and threats of the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, against the head of SPAK, Altin Duman.

The US Embassy expresses support for SPAK and the head of this institution, Dumani.

The statement emphasized that the US will stand by law-abiding legal professionals and support all those seeking to end impunity.

"We welcome the condemnation by KLP of the direct and indirect attacks against SPAK in the last days and weeks. We will continue to stand by the overwhelming majority of Albanian citizens who support the new justice institutions and the key role they play in Albania's democracy. The US stands by law-abiding justice professionals and will support all those who seek to end impunity," the statement underlined.

We recall that Meta has made strong accusations against Altin Duman, claiming that the latter met with the former senior FBI official, Charles McGonigal.

On the other hand, Dumani, in an exclusive statement for CNA, categorically denied the accusations.

However, the leader of PL did not stop there, but threatened the leader of SPAK yesterday, during a conference with journalists.

In relation to these attacks and threats, the High Prosecution Council also reacted, which condemned Meta's actions and supported Altin Duman./ CNA
