Road accidents that occurred in December have increased significantly compared to the same month a year ago, as most of them are caused by young people.

According to INSTAT data, in December 2023 there were 157 road accidents, from 105 that occurred in December 2022, with an increase of 49.5%.

The number of accident victims (killed and injured) is 200 people in December 2023. In the same period of the previous year, the number of accident victims was 90 people.

In December 2023, the number of injured people almost doubled. The significant increase was noted in female accidents, which increased to 64, from 30 in December 2023.

For the entire year 2023, there were a total of 1,285 accidents in the country, with an increase of 10.3% compared to the previous year.

There were a total of 1731 accidents (killed and injured) in 2023, with an increase of 8.2% compared to the previous year.

According to INSTAT, road accidents, in 74.5% of cases, occurred as a result of the driver's behavior. The highest number of accidents in this period was committed by the 25-34 age group, accounting for 25.5% of the total number of accidents.

In December 2023, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Saturday with 21.0%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Wednesday with 10.2%.

In December 2023, the highest number of road accidents occurred during the time frame 08:00-12:00, accounting for 24.2% of the total number of road accidents.

For the year 2023, 1,285 road accidents are counted, while the number of accident victims is 1,731 people.
