Luli Basha is simply unelectable

In 2005, many months before the day of the elections, it was felt, expected and predicted.

The elections would be won by the Democratic Party! The signals for power rotation were clear. Businessmen had intensified messages with the opposition that were heading towards power.

People expressed confidence that the power of the Socialist Party was coming to an end. Media debates were won more and more often by the right. The tragic events of 1997 were forgotten! And with it all the accusations against the leader of the opposition.

Victory looked clearly on the horizon. Berisha had his ups and downs, but in eight years of opposition everyone was clear: one day he would return on power. And that moment had come. Before 2005, the DP knew how to gather competing personalities, while the SP was to power.

So he won! And today? Today, after each passing day, it is added by an event sometimes to laugh and sometimes to cry, but which only deepens the conviction that with the leadership that has DP today, it will never comes to power.

In the eighth year of the governing mandate, Edi Rama looks tired, the ministers (except for some with jungle blood) seem to barely postpone the days. The socialist parliamentary group, has lost all political passion, and is sluggishly waiting for new lists.

Characters with functions in the Assembly, openly work for NGOs and other interest groups, as if they are preparing new employment contracts for after 2021! The majority is exhausted!

Embarrassing figures of seats in independent commissions have been reported several times, which fail to be met by the majority, often due to internal clashes, lack of coordination, but also because the flagrant lack of candidacies that meet the legal criteria.

This situation will have to bring water to the opposition mill. But this is not happening! Accusations against Edi Rama, are regularly followed by curses against Luli Basha. As if all this were not enough, in the DP group sections, the procedure for ?selecting? candidates has degraded into boxing scenes and ugly conflicts of individuals who even without these scenes could not whitewash the page of the process.

Candidate lists are being filled with ridiculous candidacy figures. The principle ?one member, one vote?, has become ?one member, one vote for oneself?. The list of candidates is expected to be two to three times longer than the number of DP members.

Because there are cases when all family members are proposed. The heads of the DP branches excluded from the candidacy, are introducing the names of their women and children as candidates. The process of Luli Basha could not be more ridiculous than this.

It is commonly heard among Democrats saying:we had nothing with Rama. We are angry with Luli. Worse than that could not be done even the first year of the opposition. We are in the seventh year. Luli Basha does not inspire any hope! He is simply unelectable./ CNA.al
