During a conversation that he had with journalists yesterday, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the Socialist Party supports the opening of the electoral lists, but this does not mean that the June 5 pact is affected, as according to him they are parallel processes.

Rama stressed out that he supports the opening of the electoral lists, because according to him this is what is also supported by the citizens. ?We have decided to support the opening of the lists, so that each voter can choose the subject and express his preference for the deputy or deputy involved in the race.

The decision reflects our conviction, that the opening of the lists coincides with the desire of a very large mass of Albanian citizens, that goes far beyond a ruling majority or minority, and beyond what would be the simplest and most comfortable solution for a large party, but also for me as the chairman of the party?- said Rama.

So, from the speech of the Prime Minister, it is clear that the Socialist Party will open its lists for the next elections, but will not touch the June 5 agreement with the DP and LSI, reached thanks to the intervention of the international community.

This means that between the variant only closed lists or only open lists, another aspect is added. Mixed system. Which are the problems caused by the closed lists and coalitions of this system that we currently have, and the way used in 2017, when small parties entered the lists of PD and SP, the way the elections in 2009 took place, when the allied parties were running in the coalition, but also the problems that show the open lists and the closed lists, the constitutionalist Ilir Rusmajli, two days ago in a long material referred to the Albanian Parlament, showed in detail what were the differences, constitutional aspects, and the problems that have any kind of system.

While with the move made yesterday by Rama, it is clear that the Prime Minister has tried to gain the support of public opinion. With his action, he clearly shows that the Socialist Party will open its electoral lists. Such formula was used by the Socialists in the local elections of 2011, when the municipal councilors, in their ranked list were placed according to the votes they received in the certain area they covered.

Apparently the same formula, the SP will use now for the next parliamentary elections.

So, Rama will open the SP lists publicly, and on the other hand the challenge remains in the hands of Lulzim Basha. For him, Rama will approve the Electoral Reform, as the agreement was signed.

And we will face a majority with open lists, and an opposition that is apparently is ?crying? for closed lists. Now the ?ball? is again in Luli Basha field. Will he open his lists, as the majority of public opinion demands, or will he be locked in his shell with a bunch of incompetent servile, who have only been guaranteed him losses, and most likely will be the ones who will lead him toward another defeat./ CNA.al
