China has officially signed a 264 million yuan or 37 million US dollars deal to deploy next-generation humanoid robots from UBTech Robotics at all major border crossings in Guangxi, near Vietnam.
These are no ordinary cars, they are humanoids called Walker S2, the first robots capable of autonomously changing their batteries without human intervention. This allows them to operate almost non-stop, making them ideal for high-demand environments.
Starting this December, the robots will support border operations by guiding travelers, managing queues, assisting patrol teams and helping improve logistics. Across the border, they will also be tested in steel, copper and aluminum factories to perform industrial inspections traditionally done by human workers.
This project marks one of the largest real-world humanoid deployments in China, showing how quickly the country is pushing artificial intelligence-powered machines from labs into everyday public infrastructure.
