Digital identity card/ More and more countries in Europe are aiming for this

Mandatory digital ID cards may be an expected option in the UK, but optional ones have been around in some European countries for decades.

It is argued that the digital identity card, which will take the form of an app-based system, will simplify interactions with public services and increase security by verifying individuals' identities more efficiently.

Digital ID cards are not a new concept in Europe, where several countries have successfully implemented such systems, offering a glimpse into how the UK could modernize its public services.
