The Italian national team continues its search for a new coach after the end of cooperation with Gennaro Gattuso.

According to Italian media reports, Pep Guardiola's name has been included in the list of candidates for the Azzurri's bench. The Catalan coach is free after the end of his 10-year adventure at Manchester City.

Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini were previously considered the main favorites, but so far there have been no concrete developments. Meanwhile, Paolo Maldini and Leonardo, who have recently taken on important roles in the Italian Football Federation, see Guardiola as the ideal profile for the new national team project.

The objective is to return Italy to the highest international levels. However, Guardiola has previously made it clear that he wants to stay away from the bench for a while, which makes the operation difficult. At the moment, there are no official confirmed contacts between the parties.
