Argentina suffers, but qualifies for semifinals. Switzerland leaves with honor

The Argentina national team has secured qualification for the semi-finals of the World Cup, after defeating Switzerland 3-1 after extra time.

The defending champions took the lead in the 10th minute, when Alexis Mac Allister headed home after an assist from Lionel Messi.

Switzerland appeared more demanding in the second half and managed to equalize in the 67th minute through Dan Ndoye.

Just five minutes later, the Swiss were left with one man down after Breel Embolo was shown a second yellow card for simulation.

Despite numerical inferiority, Switzerland resisted until the end of regular time, sending the match into extra time.

In the second half of extra time, Julian Alvarez restored the Argentines' advantage in the 113th minute with a shot from outside the area, while Lautaro Martinez sealed the result in the 121st minute after a counterattack.

In the next round, Argentina will play against England for a place in the final.
