Historic success for Scotland, leaving behind Brazil and Morocco

The Scottish national team has made a positive start to the World Cup, defeating Haiti with a minimum score of 1-0 in the Group C match. This duel marked the return of the Scots to a final stage of this tournament for the first time in the 21st century.

Clark's team took control from the start, with striker Ben Ganon-Dok threatening the opposition goal in the third minute, forcing the goalkeeper to make a fine save. Haiti responded with a Dedson effort, applying pressure in the opening 15 minutes.

After overcoming Haiti's initial pressure, Scotland came close in the 17th minute through a powerful shot from Scott McTominay from the edge of the area that was blocked by the post. The only goal of the match came before the half-hour mark.

After an attempt by Che Adams was blocked by the goalkeeper, midfielder John McGinn struck accurately, sending the ball into the net with the help of a deflection.

The goal ended Scotland's 28-year wait for a World Cup goal, which had been missing since 1998, and made the Aston Villa player Scotland's oldest goalscorer in a finals.

Scotland had another good chance through Shankland, who headed wide of the box. However, Haiti also created dangerous situations; Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gun failed to control a powerful shot from Ruben Providens, but the defense reacted quickly to clear the danger.

In the 70th minute, McGinn missed a chance to double his tally, shooting wide under pressure from defender Ricardo Ade. Haiti, led by Sebastian Migne, increased the pressure in the closing minutes, with striker Isidor and winger Providens seriously threatening the Scottish defence. Despite a late header from Pierrot going wide, Scotland held on to secure their first World Cup victory since 1990.

This result temporarily positions Scotland at the top of Group C ahead of their next matches with Morocco and Brazil.
