Unexpectedly at the World Cup, the midfielder loses the match. He is banned from entering

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey has been banned from entering Canada, missing his national team's debut match at the 2026 World Cup against Panama.

The Canadian government has refused to issue a travel visa to the 32-year-old due to his serious legal record, which includes five charges of rape and one of sexual assault since July 2025, to which two new charges have recently been added.

Although the former Arsenal player has consistently denied these claims, local authorities have applied their strict immigration rules. FIFA itself has also issued an official statement confirming that the player will remain at Ghana's base camp in Boston, USA, and will not be allowed to travel to Canada for the Group stage.
