Mexico doesn't stop, seals qualification in the first half

The Mexican national team has secured qualification for the round of 16 of the World Cup after a 2-0 victory over Ecuador at the "Estadio Azteca".

This result marks the Mexicans' first victory in a knockout stage since 1986. The match, which started an hour late due to a storm, was broken in the 22nd minute by Julian Quinones, who scored his third goal in this competition.

Javier Aguirre's team doubled their lead just after half an hour through veteran Raul Jimenez, after a combination with Quinones.

In the second half, Mexico proved to be more cautious in the game, successfully defending the advantage and recording their fourth consecutive match without conceding a goal.

The situation worsened for Ecuador at the end of the match, when Piero Hincapie was sent off.

After this success, Mexico officially advances to the round of 16, where they will face the winner of the England-Congo match.
