One goal away from history, Mbappe has a golden opportunity

Kylian Mbappe is very close to a historic World Cup record, having scored eight goals in the knockout stages.

The France and Real Madrid striker currently shares first place with Brazilians Leonidas da Silva and Ronaldo Nazario.

In the round of 16 against Sweden, the 27-year-old will have the opportunity to break away alone at the top of this ranking. Mbappe has scored eight goals in eight qualifying matches during the World Cups in Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022.

In Russia he scored twice against Argentina and once in the final against Croatia. In Qatar he scored twice against Poland and three in the final against Argentina.

Ronaldo Nazario scored eight goals in ten qualifying matches, while Leonidas da Silva scored seven goals in just four matches at the 1938 World Cup.
