OFFICIAL/ The World Cup "burns" another coach, resignation comes

Miroslav Koubek has resigned as Czech Republic coach following their elimination in the group stage of the World Cup.

The decision was made by mutual agreement between the 74-year-old coach and the president of the Czech Football Federation, David Trunda.

The Czechs finished last in Group A with just 1 point, after losses to South Korea and Mexico, as well as a draw with South Africa.

Koubek took responsibility for the team's poor results at the tournament. His departure came despite previous statements that he was willing to continue in charge of the national team.

The coach stated that the climate created by criticism and media reports influenced his decision. Koubek's resignation comes after Patrik Schick also announced his retirement from the Czech national team.
