Historically, a country can be represented by 6 teams in the Champions League

English football is close to a historic achievement, with the real possibility of being represented by six teams in the next edition of the Champions League.

An unprecedented scenario, which would set a new record in the European club arena and further emphasize the Premier League's dominance in continental football.

This has been made possible by the impressive performances of Manchester United and Tottenham in the Europa League semi-finals. Both teams have taken a big step towards the final after convincing victories in their first legs.

Manchester United beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 away, while Tottenham secured a 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt. With these results, an all-English Europa League final looks very likely and with it, the possibility of one of these teams securing a Champions League place through triumph in this tournament.

This is particularly important given that neither team is currently in a position to secure a Champions League place through Premier League standings. However, the Europa League winner automatically qualifies for the next edition of the Champions League, regardless of league position.

At the same time, under UEFA's new regulations and coefficient system, England has already secured five Champions League places for the 2025–2026 season.
