Carlo Ancelotti will not be the coach of the Brazil national team, at least not for the time being. Once again, negotiations between the Italian coach and the Brazilian Football Confederation have broken down, adding to the uncertainty surrounding a deal that was long considered almost complete.

Despite numerous reports that presented his appointment as a matter of hours, and rumors that he was in London to finalize the details of the contract, the deal was not finalized.

Ancelotti himself has communicated with the president of the Brazilian Federation, to thank him for his expressed interest and at the same time to reject the proposal. This is the latest in a long series of developments that have included waiting, delays and constant speculation about a deal that never took official form.

The reasons that have led to this breakdown in negotiations are twofold. Firstly, Real Madrid is not willing to allow the team to be led by a temporary coach in an important event such as the Club World Cup.

As a result, Ancelotti informed the Brazilian federation that he would only be available from August, while in Brazil it was assumed that he had an understanding with president Florentino Pérez to leave in June. This misunderstanding may have been a decisive factor in the breakdown of the talks.

The contract he has been offered is estimated to be around 50 million euros net per year, with a 3-year contract, a sum that places him at the top of the list of the highest-paid coaches in history.
