The World Cup match between France and Paraguay in Philadelphia was characterized by strong tensions on the pitch and harsh statements after its conclusion.

French striker Kylian Mbappe openly criticized the heavy play of his opponents, emphasizing that his team adapted to the physical and aggressive style applied by Paraguay.

After the final whistle, Mbappr refused to shake hands with goalkeeper Orlando Gill, an action which prompted the latter to hit the striker in the back with the ball.
