Brdaric "slams" Vllaznia: To become champion, dreams alone are not

Coach Thomas Brdaric has reacted for the first time after leaving his position as coach of Vllaznia.

The Croatian-German coach has not spared his criticism of the club, saying that to become champions, dreams and hopes alone are not enough.

According to him, stability, good decisions and time are needed.

FULL RESPONSE

To become champions, dreams and hopes alone are not enough. You need structure. Stability. Good decisions. And time. This season, we gave it everything we had. We reached the Final 4, finished second in the league and once again earned a place in the Conference League qualifiers. This is a sporting achievement and the small bonus of European income will help the club. But the deeper value lies in what we created together.

From the beginning, our goal was to compete at the highest level, without losing our identity: the attacking style of football of Thomas Brdaric. This meant chasing titles, while also developing the next generation. A difficult balance, but one that we embraced with full commitment. We saw young players like Dodaj and Jukaj take their first real steps in top-level football. Other young players are waiting to get their chance, like Tafili and Spahija, and not only. At the same time, our experienced leaders, Balaj, Gurishta, Krymi, Mala and Deliu, held the team together with consistency and character. They were the backbone that kept the standard high, on and off the pitch.

The final defeat hurts. There is no question. Atmosphere like in the Champions League matches in my time as a player. But the season gave us more than a result. It gave us growth, confidence and a team that fought together until the last minute. Every morning, riding a scooter through Shkodër towards the stadium, I saw people who believed. Their faces, their calm hopes, reminded me why I do this job. That daily image was my motivation. My personal journey with Vllaznia began in 2020. During these years, I have been proud of: Winning the Cup, being honored as Coach of the Year, building a team that never gave up, even when the conditions were difficult.

Now, that journey ends. Shkodra will always be more than just a football city for me. It is a place of passion, pride and perseverance. A place where I followed my dreams and faced reality. To the players, the staff, the club, the president and especially the fans: Thank you for your trust, energy and love for the game and for Vllaznia. The work is not over. But my chapter here is complete with full heart, full effort and full respect.

Thank you, Vllaznia.

Thank you, Shkodra.
