The authorities responsible for organizing Ligue 1 are considering the possibility of changing the current format of the French championship, with the aim of increasing the level of competition and creating more interest in the race for the title. According to “L'Équipe”, a proposal is on the table to introduce a “Final Four” system that would include the four best ranked teams at the end of the regular season.

This model would represent an innovation for French professional football in the men's category, but not unknown at the national level, as a similar scheme has been used for two seasons in Albania.

In this format, the first-ranked team will face the fourth-ranked team, while the second-ranked team will face the third-ranked team, in two semi-finals. The winners of these matches will advance to the final that will determine the season's champion.

The idea has been positively received by some of the Ligue 1 leaders. The objective is clear: to increase the attractiveness of the title race and avoid the one-sided dominance of one team, as has happened in recent years with Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG's dominance over the last decade has significantly reduced the unpredictability of the season, also affecting public sentiment and television audiences.
