74% of Europeans support age restrictions on social networks

According to the EU's fundamental rights agency (FRA), Europeans are very concerned about how children use social media and the risks these platforms pose, including safety, mental health, exposure to inappropriate content and online addiction.

There is concern that children may be more vulnerable to online exploitation or commercialization of their activity on digital platforms.

Based on the latest statistics from the FRA, 74% of Europeans support age restrictions on social networks based on the above-mentioned reasons.

Recent studies show that 97% of young people in the EU, aged 16-29, use the internet every day and the majority of them use social media activity, which indicates a very high level of online exposure among young people./ CNA
