42.5% of women of reproductive age have not given birth to children, reveals the

Detailed data from the 2023 census show that 10.5 thousand women in the 20-24 age group have given birth, compared to 63.3 thousand who have not given birth. In this age group, 85% of women have not yet given birth to their babies.

Furthermore, in the age group of 25-29 years, women without children dominate again, as 53% of them have not yet given birth according to the census. A total of 73,826 women are counted in this age group, where 37,679 have not given birth and 22,459 have given birth to their babies.
After the age of 34, women who have given birth begin to dominate. But still in the 30-34 age group, 25% of women have not given birth, while 75% have given birth.

In the 35-39 age group, 15% of women have never given birth and 73% have given birth. In the age group of 40-44 years, 12.4 percent of women have not given birth, and in the age group of 45-49 years, 11 percent of women have not given birth. High emigration of men and personal development of women is affecting fertility rates.

In recent decades, men aim to increase their capital by emigrating and women aim to get an education. This approach has deepened the educational achievement gap between women and men, causing many women to choose careers.

The natural increase of our country is entirely dependent on the number of women of reproductive age, but they are rapidly declining and, moreover, a significant part of them do not prefer to give birth.

The 2023 Census data show that in 2023 there were 508,000 women of reproductive age (15-49 years old) across the country, from over 710,000 in the 2011 census.

The decline of women in the reproductive age will affect the low birth rate in the years to come and the irreversible reduction of the population. Women in the 25-29 age group decreased by 21%.

The lowest decrease was only -6% for women in the age group of 3034 years, while the reduction of over 30% is also present in the age groups of 40-44 and 4449 years.

In 2023, in the entire country, only 22,210 babies were born, the lowest level since 1934 when official annual data were reported, but meanwhile the number of women of reproductive age is over 500 thousand./ Monitor
