The distribution of textbooks begins, Manastirliu: Over 238,000 students benefit

The Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, from the Red School in Tirana announced the beginning of the distribution of free books, which aims to ease the financial burden for thousands of Albanian families.

 This year, more than 238 thousand students will benefit from free books, thanks to a budget of over 9 million dollars allocated by the Ministry of Education and Sports.

"More than 238,000 students will benefit from free books, and with this year's budget, more than 9 million dollars have been made available to ensure that students in the basic education system can be provided with free textbooks and also 16 categories of students in secondary education. There will be students who come from families with social and economic problems, students who are differently abled or from minorities, minorities, the Egyptian Roma community, who will have the opportunity to benefit from this support policy with free textbooks from the state", said the Minister of Education and Sports Ogerta Manastirliu.

There are about 227,000 students from class I to class IX who will be provided with free textbooks and about 12,500 students from class ten to class twelve who belong to certain categories who benefit from support for free textbooks. This free book support program is focused on students who come from families with social and economic problems, as well as those who need special support, including children with different abilities and those from minorities and minorities.

Book distribution will continue according to a set schedule in coordination with teachers and parents, ensuring that all students receive their textbooks on time.

"The free books support program has started and will continue throughout this period until the beginning of September. We will be in all schools according to the arrangement that each school has made with the community of parents to offer exactly the complete package of the free program for the students. As for class I-III, this is a support that is guaranteed every year and the rest is according to a system that we have implemented through the inheritance of the book. We will also have the new books that are introduced this year for the first time, which is class IV, classes VIII and IX," Manastirliu said.

Meanwhile, preparations for the school year have continued throughout the summer, and the Ministry of Education and Sports is working intensively to organize registration and distribution of school materials, improve school infrastructure and develop training for teachers, to guarantee a smooth start to school year.

"We will move even more intensively these days before September 9, for the distribution of teachers according to their workloads and also work hard to carry out the recruitment in terms of new roles in the school, which are directly related to the quality but also to the support of students regarding career orientation.

We will work hard on the organization of SMART laboratories. There are 200 schools, i.e. 216 SMART labs already installed, which are getting ready to start with the coding program for the children of these schools.

To continue with the support program through teacher training where from September we will start the second phase of training intensively through the National Program for the Professional Development of Teachers where we foresee 16 thousand teachers trained throughout this school year where the focus will be on teachers of sciences, primary education, Albanian language and technology and information to equip them with knowledge and the most effective teaching methods and of course to support them on the way to an even better quality education", said Manastirliu./ CNA
